Think Global, Act Local
Think global, act local has been a focus point for the current Year 12 Geography class studying global sustainability for their HSC. This included a specialised study in viticulture (the agricultural pursuit of wine making). The class were lucky enough to go on a guided tour of Tamburlaine Organic Winery in the Hunter Valley, Pokolbin.
The tour had three main stages including: the vine, production and distribution. Tamburlaine are pushing the limits in sustainable practice in the industry and this was a core feature for the students to study and question during the day. Highlights included studying Pheobe’s Block, a small Verdelho batch that showcased Tamburlaine’s unique holistic approach to maintaining vines. Another feature was the innovative plastic bottles that have just hit the market in an attempt to reduce the carbon footprint of glass bottles.
The Geography students were diligent and inquisitive on the day. A huge thank you to Mrs Corrigan for accompanying the group and lending her expertise in sustainable practice.
