Write a Book in a Day Competition
19.08.24
In Term 2, Mrs Abbott-Atchison, Leader of Literacy Integration, guided students from Years 7 to 10 through a “Write a Book in a Day” workshop, achieving outstanding results.

The students were given the following parameters:

  • The book had to feature at least two human characters and one non-human character.
  • The setting had to be in Australia, with identifiable Australian content.
  • The target audience was children aged 12 to 17.
  • The word count requirements were 2500 to 3000 words for Years 7 and 8, and 3500 to 4000 words for Years 9 and 10.
  • The book had to include the following ten words: alleviate, undermine, jubilance, plausible, vivacious, retaliate, culture, denounce, adamant, and revelation.

Once the books were complete, Mrs Abbott-Atchison arranged to have them bound and presented to each participant. We are proud to announce that the winners of the “Write a Book in a Day” competition were Year 10, with Year 7 as runners-up. Congratulations to all students who participated! We hope you gained valuable insights into writing and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
