The Waterford Project for Students in Years 8 to 11
29.01.21
Welcome back to St Edward’s for the 2021 school year. Social Justice is a central focus at the College where staff and students participate in a wide variety of programs which emphasise awareness, advocacy and action.

We are guided by the Edmund Rice Schools’ Touchstones:

  • Justice and Solidarity
  • Liberating Education
  • Gospel Spirituality
  • Inclusive Community

A key part of our long and ongoing commitment to Social Justice is the Waterford Project, which is a condition of enrolment and requires every student in Years 8 to 11 (optional for Year 12) to complete a minimum of 15 hours of service for others by the end of Term 3. Some opportunities are listed below.

Parents too play a crucial role in ensuring that our boys complete their service for others, by encouraging and thinking of meaningful ways for their son to be involved.

As Catholics/Christians, we try to follow our heritage, found in the values of Jesus and Blessed Edmund Rice (founder of the Christian Brothers) in love, compassion, forgiveness and peace, in a humble manner. Our Social Justice programs at the College aim to enact and enable our boys in this way.

I can be contacted throughout the year, by telephoning 4321 6439 or via email pdell@stedwards.nsw.edu.au.

COVID-19:  Due to ongoing and changing restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,  some school-based and/or community activities which are listed may be postponed and/or cancelled. The College will be informed and make changes as the year progresses, if necessary.
