We are incredibly proud of our Technology and Applied Studies HSC students who recently submitted their major works in Industrial Technology Multimedia, Metal, and Timber.

The creativity, craftsmanship, and dedication on display were truly remarkable. From metalwork and innovative multimedia projects to beautifully crafted timber pieces, our students have demonstrated exceptional skill and passion in their chosen fields. Congratulations to all involved for their hard work and amazing achievements! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these talented students.

Matthew Lewry Multimedia	A rotoscoping music video of different musical songs and genres encapsulated within a narrative of escapism. After rejecting a night out with friends, the only way to find peace within themselves is music, transporting them to different worlds though various video, animation and audio synchronisation effects.
Thomas Phillips Multimedia	A video that incorporates game coding, featuring interactions with the real-world using 3D animations. This project utilises a variety of software applications along with cinematography to create a dynamic and engaging visual experience.
Chris Rae Multimedia	A 3D fighting animation that morphs Blender 3D animations with real-world cinematography, creating a high-energy experience enhanced by dynamic sound and text effects. The project showcases skills in combining digital and practical elements, seamlessly blending them to produce visually striking and immersive scenes.
Fynn Robinson Multimedia	A music video for “Hard Times” by Paramore, featuring special effects and camera techniques, along with synchronised text and audio elements. This project highlights skills in visual storytelling and technical execution, creating an engaging and dynamic experience that complements the song’s themes.
Xzavier Rudd-Abrahams Multimedia	A Stop-motion animation showcasing skills in integrating characters from different universes, bringing Sonic the Hedgehog into the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ world. Using precise model manipulation and timing to create dynamic interactions, as Sonic and Toothless team up to defeat the Whispering Death.
Elizabeth Sabu Multimedia	A video diary/vlog called “Simply Summer” that will serve as an engaging visual narrative, sharing experiences and adventures throughout the summer. Implementing cinematography and text effects to document these moments as a tribute to the joy and warmth that summer brings.
Ghazal Shadkami Multimedia	A short horror film centred around the concept of the uncanny valley, featuring an 8-bit retro aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from the unsettling feeling of encountering human-like entities that aren’t quite realistic, this film incorporates audio synchronisation, video effects, and animations to enhance the eerie atmosphere.
Emerson Sherwood Multimedia	A music film based on the song “Sunscreen” by Sun Tan, featuring narration, camera techniques, colour effects, and masking. It conveys a message about embracing life, staying true to oneself, and not worrying too much about what others think.
Luca Sydenham Multimedia	A music video “How u Feel” by Destroy Lonely combines real-life footage and animation to visually convey the song’s emotional depth while aligning with the label’s distinct aesthetic. This project showcases skills in cinematography, video composition, and post-production using Adobe Creative Cloud.
Jade Terzian Multimedia	“Inside My Head” is a stop motion film exploring a young vocalist’s inner world, where band members are imagined reflections of Radiohead’s song “Inside My Head.” With handmade characters, precise camera work and props, the film offers a visually captivating experience for both animation enthusiasts and casual viewers.
Abhishek Thomas Multimedia	A brief cinematic video that captures an interpretation of ‘Home,’ aiming to inspire the audience to explore and redefine conventional ideas of what home is. Through special effects, video editing, animation, and audio enhancements, the film takes viewers on a journey through India.
Emma Walton Multimedia	A short film that emphasises the importance of holding onto your childhood self during the process of self-discovery in the teenage years. By incorporating video effects and animations, the film illustrates how staying connected to your inner child allows you to navigate life’s stressful moments by doing what you love, rather than being overwhelmed by the challenges we all face.
Sienna-Rose Zrilic Multimedia	An interactive digital magazine that showcases skating content through videos, posters, and photography, combining engaging visuals with dynamic elements to create an immersive experience for readers while highlighting the vibrant skating culture.
Cohen Crook Metal	A single-axle motorcycle trailer designed with practicality and efficiency in mind. It features a built-in trundle tray drawer, perfect for securely storing towing straps, tools, and other essential components needed for both towing and riding. The trailer also boasts a precision-engineered CNC Jerry Can holder, conveniently mounted on the side, providing additional fuel storage for extended journeys.
Matthew Clarkson Timber	This HSC Major Timber project features an exquisitely crafted reclining chair inspired by the elegant Parker era of furniture design. Constructed from rich New Guinea Rosewood Hardwood, the chair showcases the natural beauty and durability of this premium material. The design focuses on both aesthetics and comfort, with ergonomically shaped arms that enhance user experience while adding to the chair’s visual appeal. The craftsmanship is highlighted by a meticulous finishing process using natural wax, which brings out the wood’s deep, warm tones and grain patterns, ensuring a beautiful and lasting finish.
Mitchell Hall Timber	This HSC Major Timber project is a handcrafted canoe showcasing a remarkable journey of learning and problem-solving. Made from Western Red Cedar, the canoe reflects the dedication to exploring new woodworking techniques and overcoming challenges. The project involved a diverse range of methods, including the intricate process of laying up timber scantlings. To ensure durability and performance, fibreglass was used on the canoe, gaining hands-on experience with materials and techniques not previously encountered. The result is a unique and functional canoe that highlights the creativity and perseverance in tackling new challenges.
Lachlan Kemp Timber	This HSC Major Timber project features a handcrafted acoustic guitar, reflecting dedication to learning a diverse range of woodworking techniques. Each aspect of the guitar, from the intricately brass-inlaid rosette to the customised headstock, demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The headstock was carefully shaped to meet the anthropometric needs of the user, ensuring both comfort and functionality. The guitar is constructed from a selection of functional timbers chosen for their acoustic properties, contributing to its impressive sound quality. The project highlights hard work and perseverance, as the guitar’s design and construction represent a significant achievement in both artistry and functionality.
Byron Marks Timber	This HSC Major Timber project features a beautifully handcrafted outdoor two-seater sofa, skillfully designed to combine aesthetics with comfort. Constructed from New Guinea Rosewood, the sofa showcases meaningful joinery and innovative shaping techniques, particularly in the creation of ergonomically designed armrests that enhance user comfort. The design incorporates thoughtful ergonomic principles to ensure that the sofa provides an inviting and relaxing seating experience. Custom-made cushions were created to complement the rich hues and grain of the Rosewood, integrating seamlessly with the overall design. The project highlights the ability to blend traditional woodworking skills with modern design elements, resulting in a stylish and functional piece of outdoor furniture.
Jayden Miotello Timber	This HSC Major Timber project is a highly functional entertainment unit, meticulously designed to replace an existing piece in the lounge room. The unit features aesthetic joinery, including blind dovetails used in constructing the carcass, showcasing skill in fine woodworking. Handcrafted custom laminated handles and drawer pulls add a unique and personal touch to the design. The entertainment unit is finished with a professional-grade hard wax oil, providing a durable and attractive surface. Designed with careful consideration of the lounge room’s ergonomics and the user’s seating position, the unit accommodates a TV and integrates seamlessly into the space. This project exemplifies the ability to merge functionality with refined craftsmanship, creating a practical and visually appealing piece.
Kale Puata Timber	This HSC Major Timber project features a custom-designed hollow timber surfboard, crafted specifically to suit the student’s height, weight, and surfing ability, while catering to the unique conditions of the Central Coast. Constructed from lightweight Paulownia timber, known for its durability and excellent buoyancy, the surfboard balances performance with aesthetics. The fins are meticulously laminated and hand-shaped to align with the board’s design, ensuring optimal performance. The project demonstrates commitment to tailoring the surfboard to both personal and environmental requirements, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern surfing needs.
Jack Wighton Timber	This HSC Major Timber project features a custom study desk crafted from American Walnut, combining elegance with practical design. The desk showcases unique geometric elements that seamlessly integrate storage drawers, optimising both form and function. The use of a range of appropriate joinery techniques ensures structural integrity and adds a refined touch to the craftsmanship. Designed with careful attention to ergonomics, the desk provides a comfortable and efficient workspace, accommodating the needs of users while supporting healthy sitting posture. The rich tones and grain of the American Walnut further enhance the desk’s visual appeal, making it a standout piece in any study area.
