Year 10 Work Experience/Skills Development Program

Year 10 will soon embark on a three-week Work Experience and Skills Development Program, starting on Monday, November 25. This program offers students a valuable opportunity to engage with the real world and develop essential work readiness and entrepreneurial skills. For those students not participating in work experience, we have created an alternative skills development program at the College, focusing on cultivating these important competencies.

Attendance is compulsory for all students, whether they are at their workplace or participating in the school program. Exceptions will only be granted in cases of illness, injury, or special leave. We are excited to see our students grow and thrive through this initiative!

I would like to thank Mrs Juliana Dignam and Mr Jay Brown who have led the organisation and implementation of this wonderful initiative.

The North Challenge

North Construction invited several teams of Year 10 students from various schools across the Central Coast to leverage their entrepreneurial interests and business acumen to develop business proposals aimed at addressing the region’s growing population and the escalating housing shortage. George Barry, Malcolm Hawkins, and Daniel Lyons were selected by their Commerce teacher, Ms Celebrin, to participate in the program. For three months, they received ongoing support from a mentor with expertise in construction to guide their group work.

The trio proposed a business called Split Homes Constructions, which enables homeowners to divide their properties into two separate living spaces without harming the environment. This innovative approach allows homeowners to downsize while remaining in their community.

Congratulations to George, Malcom and Daniel for their participation in the program and for representing St Edward’s College so admirably.

 Year 11 Preliminary Reports

The Year 11 Preliminary Reports were uploaded to the College Portal on Monday. These reports provide a very valuable piece of feedback to Year 11 students on their progress throughout the Preliminary HSC. The reports provide an assessment mark and rank as well as a Preliminary Examination mark and rank. Also included in the report are an indication of the student’s level of achievement of outcomes in each course and importantly a comment from each subject teacher providing feedback in the form of affirmations and recommendations.

All students are encouraged to read these reports to assist in making the important decision regarding their pattern of study for the HSC.
