St Edward’s: Fostering Values for Life Beyond School

At St Edward’s, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where young men are empowered to grow and excel. Central to our mission is the development of key values that will not only guide them through their time at school but will also shape the men they become in the future. We work closely with families to instil these values—respect, forgiveness, compassion, inclusivity, resilience, and a commitment to learning—creating a strong foundation for lifelong success.

Our belief is that true growth comes from embracing challenges. We encourage our students to take every opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, whether academically, socially, or personally. By doing so, they learn to push their boundaries and develop into resilient individuals who are well-equipped to handle the challenges life throws their way.

These values go beyond the classroom and help our young men build strong character, guiding them to make positive contributions to society long after they leave St Edward’s. The principles of respect, compassion, and inclusivity prepare them to interact with diverse communities, while resilience and a commitment to learning inspire them to continuously seek improvement and face adversity with confidence.

In partnership with families, St Edward’s remains committed to fostering an environment where students not only excel academically but also grow as compassionate, responsible individuals. We are proud of the values instilled in our students and the way these principles shape their journeys beyond school, allowing them to navigate the world as thoughtful, respectful, and capable members of society.

At St Edward’s, we believe that education is more than just learning facts—it is about preparing our young people for life. By fostering these strong values, we equip them with the tools they need to thrive, both at school and in life beyond the gates of the College.

College Open Day – Saturday, 8 March 2025

We are excited to invite all prospective students and their families to our College Open Day on Saturday, 8 March, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This event provides an invaluable opportunity to explore the exceptional educational offerings at St Edward’s College and gain insight into the unique learning environment we foster here.

On Open Day, visitors will have the chance to tour the campus, meet our dedicated staff, and discover the wide range of academic, cultural, and extracurricular programs we offer. It is an important day for showcasing how we strive to create a holistic educational experience that prepares young men not only for academic success but for meaningful, well-rounded lives.

Our current students play a central role in this event and are eager to share their experiences. Many of our young men will act as guides, offering tours to visitors and showcasing the facilities that make St Edward’s a special place. Others will be working in specialist areas, providing information and demonstrating the expertise they have developed in various subjects and activities. These students take great pride in representing the College, and their enthusiasm and commitment are a wonderful reflection of the quality of young men who thrive here.

As part of their involvement, our students also earn Waterford Community Service hours, reinforcing the value we place on service to others and the community. The pride these young men take in helping others understand what makes St Edward’s unique is evident, and their contributions are an inspiring testament to the character and values we promote here at the College.

We look forward to Open Day and showing the community all that St Edward’s has to offer.
