Drama

Our drama students have been busy honing their performance skills. During Term 3, our Year 9 and 10 Drama class studied monologues. Each student had to select, rehearse, and perform a monologue of their choosing. The choices ranged from well-known films, adaptations of existing comic characters and even an original piece. For many of them, it was their first solo performance which can be a very daunting experience. But all the performers excelled. The boys had five weeks to memorise their lines, refine and rehearse their movement, design their lighting and staging and bring their piece to life. We will be holding a Drama Night later in the term where all students will be performing their monologues.

Music

The end of last term was a very busy and fulfilling term for our HSC Music students who sat for their practical examinations in Week 9. All up there were 51 pieces of music and 1 Viva Voce presented.

We are enormously proud of each of the boys who have worked with enthusiasm and care on their practical skills throughout the year. They were able to celebrate this hard work a few weeks prior to sitting for their examination with a Year 12 Music evening.

It was a fitting evening celebrating their hard work and achievements over the HSC Music course and importantly an opportunity to share their love of music and performance skills with a wider audience. This event was expertly crewed by the Year 11 Entertainment class who did an excellent job on their first big technical crewing assignment.

The atmosphere in the theatre and sense of connection our performers felt as a class supporting their peers was truly very special. I know the parents, families and staff who attended were delighted with the evening. We wish all our Year 12 musicians the very best and hope that whatever career path they take, that music continues to bring them much joy.

Screen and Media

Late last term Year 11 Students attended a Social Media and Content Creation workshop run by Media for Millennials.

Students were treated to a half day entrepreneurial workshop designed to give them the experience of a day in the life of a content creator. Students were taught how to use social media as a business tool and build a digital campaign for Facebook and Instagram on a specific product.

Entertainment

This week Year 11 Entertainment began their work placement with the Skilled Creative in Gosford where they will undertake experiences such as scripting and recording a podcast, live set up and recording of music and filming and editing for content. We are looking forward to hearing all about their forays into an Entertainment Industry setting.
