It has been an exciting Semester 2 for the HSIE Faculty.
Students in Year’s 7-10 have embarked upon a range of critical and thought provoking projects that have provided them with valuable learning experiences and opportunities to demonstrate their learning creatively. Furthermore, the hard work of our valuable Commerce teachers oversaw the Year 9 Commerce students raising a whopping $1000 on Founder’s Day – selling soft drink, lollies and cupcakes. Our young entrepreneurs have a bright future.
Recently, Year 8 completed their first investigative fieldwork task on the school grounds and Brisbane Waters. They were tasked with determining the health and value of Brisbane Water by using a range of primary and secondary data collecting techniques. A highlight was the boys learning about the vital role mangroves play in the ecosystem and repeatedly saying ‘phenotopores’! A big thanks to the Science faculty for lending their expertise and equipment to help support the task. We have had some really positive feedback from the students.
