Captained by ‘Jono’ our fearless leader from Clean4Shore, we embarked on a boat from the shore of St Edward’s College and headed towards the mangroves around Erina Creek. Our boys were outstanding, leaving no stone unturned by crawling on hands and knees into the mosquito infested mangroves to collect approximately two box trailer loads of rubbish. The highlight of the day was wading through the middle of Brisbane Water and taking our biggest haul for the day, a sunken fibreglass boat. After wrestling with ropes and an oyster covered hull, we finally hooked it up and towed it all the way back to shore and disposed of it. It was great to not only clean up but be educated on the amount of waste that gets washed in our waterways. Thanks again to Jono and Simon from Cleean4Shore for allowing our College to a part of this fantastic program.
