Central Coast Council’s Immersion Day

Kynan Johnston and Tristan Jackson attended Central Coast Council’s (CCC) Immersion on Thursday 6 June to learn about their apprenticeship and traineeship programs to be advertised on 14 June.  Central Coast Council is an employer of choice as they provide their apprentices and trainees with expert mentoring and professional development as well time to attend study, tools of the trade and flexible work and rostered days off.

The day began with a site induction and a session on how to apply for jobs at CCC, which included helpful tips. They then attended the mechanics workshop, the fitters and electrical workshop, and the Somersby Water Treatment Plant. I was very impressed with the young apprentices who spoke about their experiences and responsibilities with such enthusiasm, and how much they enjoyed the company of the people they work with. They talked about contributing to a bigger picture, clearly understanding their role in it, and seemed genuinely proud of their contribution.

This was such a worthwhile immersion for our two students, and I encourage more students to read their emails and to take advantage of such opportunities as these can be life changing.

If your son is interested in working with Central Coast Council, please email buildyourcareer@centralcoast.nsw.gov.au for advice on your pathway options.

Apprenticeships on offer on 14 June are:

  • Electrical Apprenticeship
  • Water Treatment Traineeship
  • Heavy or Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship
  • Fitter and Machinist Apprenticeship
