Our Year 7 and 8’s enjoyed an immersive experience of challenges and activities where they have been working hard to guess the book titles, and hunt for the characters of Harry Potter within the library. During lunchtime there have been Lego challenges, Kahoot, trivia, and an audiobook reading of Harry Potter to celebrate the magic of creation, interaction, and fun!
With the abundance of participation there has been a fierce amount of competition with students battling it out for prizes including canteen vouchers, books, and lollies. On Friday the magic continued with students and staff dressing-up as a book character. Best dressed prizes were awarded, and there was a photobooth as well to capture the spirit of the day!
These activities were to celebrate the joy of reading which has many benefits including, reducing stress, boosting knowledge and brain power, and improving focus and concentration. Not to mention all of the literacy benefits like improved grammar, spelling, vocabulary and would you believe that reading actually makes you live longer?
