Waterford Service-Learning Program
18.06.24
As we approach the end of Term 2, it is amazing to see the way students are engaging in the Waterford Service-Learning Program, giving back to the community and making a difference both in large and small ways.

A reminder that each student in Years 8 to 11 is required to complete a minimum of 15 hours of service by the end of Term 3. Currently within Religion classes, students are reflecting on their experiences, documenting their learnings, and planning how they will complete their remaining hours.

The Waterford Service-Learning Program is designed to instil a sense of responsibility and compassion in our students. By participating in various community service activities, they learn the importance of giving back to the community and develop essential life skills such as empathy, teamwork, and leadership. This program not only benefits those in need but also enriches the lives of our students, preparing them to be conscientious and active members of society.

Exciting upcoming opportunities for service hours include:

  • The second College Sleepout in Week 2 Term 3
  • Founder’s Day next term will offer various chances to earn hours, with more information to be announced soon.
  • Students can also participate in the Push-up Challenge which is currently running
  • The 40 Hour Famine will run again next term, more information to come.
  • Another fantastic opportunity is volunteering for the BBQ Fundraiser, which will run from Weeks 2 to 7 next term. Details on how to get involved will be released in the coming weeks.

We encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities and to explore their own to fulfill their service requirements and make a positive impact on our community.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents for their unwavering support of the Waterford Service-Learning Program. Your encouragement and involvement are crucial to the success of our students as they embark on these meaningful projects. Together, we are fostering a generation of young individuals who are not only academically accomplished but also socially responsible and compassionate.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to witnessing the positive changes our students will bring to the community through their dedicated efforts.
