First Place in NSW – Success in French!
20.05.24
This semester, the French department has been very successful as St Edward’s won the NSW French Education Perfect competition!

St Edward’s came fourth, out of 868 schools in Australia – New Zealand, which represents a huge achievement for the College. The students must be congratulated on the time they spent competing for the school and also on their dedication to achieve as high a score as they could. Some of our students spent over twenty hours to help our school win!

During Francophonie week, which is celebrated worldwide, putting forward French speaking countries, Year 8 and Year 10 students completed a research task on French speaking countries and were interested in discovering new cultures. They were surprised when they realised that so many countries have French as their national language.

Year 9 French students must be congratulated on their participation in the Francophonie week as their enthusiasm for the language and its culture enabled St Edward’s to win the Australian prize of the best short video organised by the company Franceathome.

Our Year 11 French students played a board game in French with questions related to global French communities.

The French faculty staff are very proud of everyone’s achievement and look forward to seeing the boys develop their French language skills over the coming months.
